Telecom sixth, Photojournalism third in Hearst competition
The Department of Telecommunication currently ranks sixth in the annual Hearst Journalism Awards competition.
Alexandria Butler recently placed eighth in the Television Features category. She received a $500 award, with a $500 match to the department.
Crystal Brewer tied for 11th in the Radio competition.
The department recently entered Jason Dunning and Natalie Caula’s ork in the Hard News Reporting category.
Dunning’s piece is a spot-news report made after Tropical Storm Alberto brushed Cedar Key, before making landfall in Taylor County.
Caula was WUFT-TV’s lead reporter in the extended coverage of Danny Rolling’s execution.
The Department of Journalism, meanwhile, ranks third in the photojournalism contest. Jarrett Baker placed sixth in the News/Sports category, winning $500, with a $500 match going to the department. Tim Hussin placed 11th out of 50 entries.
