Kaplan film wins Best Documentary at Michigan festival
Professor John Kaplan’s cancer education film “Not As I Pictured,” was named Best Documentary at the Michigan Film Awards, held in conjunction with the Detroit Independent Film Festival.
Of more than 235 films entered from 16 nations, “Not As I Pictured” was one of two major winners, one for Best Documentary, and another for Best Feature film.
“Not As I Pictured” and its companion short film, “Pulitzer Pride,” have won 21 awards and honors to date, including the Larry Edwards Best of Show Award for Public Service Campaign in the recently announced ADDY awards.
The film is featured and Kaplan appears is a local Detroit television news story about the festival.
