UF Bateman team a finalist for national competition
The UF College of Journalism and Communications congratulates UF’s Public Relations Student Society of America’s 2011 Bateman Case Study Competition team for its selection as one of three finalists in this year’s Bateman national competition.
Public relations seniors Elizabeth Dow, Alex Glover, Ruth Michel, Seeta Rebbapragada, and Maura Reese will present their campaign in person to Ally Financial representatives in New York City in May. UF joins Elon University and Loyola University New Orleans in the top three.
Also, congratulations to the team’s faculty adviser Deanna K.W. Pelfrey, APR, Fellow PRSA, and professional adviser Mickey G. Nall, APR, Fellow PRSA for their hard work and guidance.
First established as the National Case Study in 1973, and later renamed to honor the late Carroll J. Bateman, APR, the competition challenges teams of students to research, plan, implement and evaluate a public relations campaign for an actual client. Forty-nine teams entered the competition this year, giving students real-world experience that can translate to resume additions, portfolio pieces and even jobs. Of these 49 entries, three teams were selected by the judges as finalists and 10 teams received honorable mention.
UF’s Bateman team has a long history of competing successfully in the case study competition. UF’s team last finished in the top three in 2003 and won the competition in 2001.
