UF student journalists win 18 Florida AP awards

The Florida Associated Press Broadcasters contest recently named 18 WUFT-FM and WUFT-TV pieces as award winners at the annual Florida AP Broadcasters banquet in Orlando. The winners, announced on April 16, are:

• Best Light Feature
  First Place: Marco La Manno, WUFT-TV, for “Rediscovering vinyl records”
• Best Short Hard News Feature
  First Place: Sheli Muniz, WUFT-TV, for “Dry cleaner dry spell”
• Best Long Hard News Feature
  Second Place: Erica Rakow, WUFT-TV, for “Freezing manatees”

College Radio:

• Best Sports
  First Place: Katie Gillen, WUFT-FM, for “Volleyball popularity”
• Best Use of Sound
  First Place: Daniel Katz, WUFT-FM for “Farmers market popularity”
