Bateman team wins three Student Golden Images Awards
At the Florida Public Relations Association conference this week, the Univeristy of Florida’s Bateman team’s 2013 campaign, Spot it, Stop it, won the Judge’s Award, Golden Image and Grand All Golden Image Award.
The team included 2013 public relations graduates Evily Giannopoulos, Alex Curbelo, Kelsey Albina, Claire Miller, and Karla Cobreiro; Public Relations Lecturer Deanna Pelfrey, APR, PRSA Fellow, faculty adviser; and Craig Dezern, Vice President of Global Communications, Walt Disney World Corporation, professional adviser.
“It’s terribly exciting to have the caliber of students we have on the UF PR Bateman team,” said Pelfry. “It’s especially a tribute to their fine work in being recognized by FPRA – which represents the best of the best professions in the state of Florida.”
Their goal was to increase awareness among children and adults of the long-term and short-term consequences of youth bullying. The 2013 campaign also educated the public on steps that can be taken to prevent and report bullying.
Their 2013 entry will continue to be used in Alachua County Schools to address the issues of bullying.
Applications for the 2014 Bateman team are available in the Public Relations office (Weimer 2085) now and due at noon on Friday, August 23. They will then be sent to the selection committee, comprised of both UF faculty and industry professionals, to be reviewed, and the team will be selected and begin work on Sept. 18.
Contact Deanna Pelfry for any questions or further information about the Bateman Team.
