Kathleen Kelly Cited in Non-Profit Fundraising Investigation Article
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Public Relations Professor Kathleen Kelly was quoted in Following the Nonprofit Money Trail: How to Investigate Where Your Donation is Going in News & Analysis, Data Driven Journalism (European Centre Initiative) on Nov. 14.
In the article, reporter Sarah Okeson focuses on the amount of money that non-profits, in particular Crime Stoppers, spend on professional fundraising and how much actually goes to the organization’s cause. Kelly commented that Crime Stoppers has “the right to have most of their donations go to stopping crime, not to paying the fees, salaries and expenses of a solicitation firm.”
