Yulia Strekalova Publishes Article on Electronic Health Record Use Among Cancer Patients

University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications research assistant professor and director of Grants Development Yulia Stekalova’s article Electronic Health Record Use Among Cancer Patients: Insights from the Health Information National Trends Survey was published in Health Informatics Journal on April 23.
In the article, Strekalova shares data from the survey showing that even though 90 percent of U.S. hospitals provide patients with access to electronic health records, use by consumers remains low. Higher-income patients were more likely to access online records than patients in poor health and lacking healthcare provider encouragement. The current survey findings suggest future directions for research and practice.
