Mira Lowe Offers Predictions for Investigative Journalism in 2018
Mira Lowe, director of the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Innovation News Center, is the author of “The Year of the Local Watchdog” published in NeimanLab Predictions for Journalism 2018.
Lowe offers her predictions for the upcoming year and suggests that accountability reporting has never been more important. She asserts that news organizations will reinvest time, talent and money into investigative journalism to dig deeper into local issues that have an impact on communities and underserved populations. Unique partnerships will be created to allow local newsrooms to flourish and provide the necessary resources to hold leaders and institutions accountable.
