IN MEMORIAM: Hugh Wilson
Hugh Wilson, B.S. Advertising 1964 and 1982 Alumni of Distinction, died on Jan. 14 at his home in Charlottesville, Va. He was 74.
Wilson started his television career by writing scripts for “The Bob Newhart Show” and “The Tony Randall Show.” In 1978, he created and served as executive producer for all 90 episodes of “WKRP,” a situation comedy chronicling the life of a struggling Cincinnati radio station after a new program director arrives.
He received an Emmy award for “The Bridge” episode for the CBS series “Frank’s Place” and worked in movies directing “Police Academy,” “Guarding Tess” and “The First Wives Club.”
