CJC Alum Jeff Klinkenberg Wins Florida Humanities Council Lifetime Achievement Award
Jeff Klinkenberg, B.S. Journalism 1971 and 2010 University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications’ Alumnus of Distinction, is the 2018 recipient of the Florida Humanities Council Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing.
Klinkenberg wrote for the Tampa Bay Times for almost four decades. At the Times, he penned “Real Florida” columns telling the fascinating stories of the state’s people and places who didn’t make wacky headlines. He has published six books, most recently Alligators in B-Flat. In March, the University Press of Florida will publish his memoir, Son of Real Florida: Stories from My Life.
Klinkenberg also received the Florida Heritage Award in January. The honor is bestowed on outstanding folk artists and folk culture advocates who have made long-standing contributions to the folk cultural resources around the state.
