CJC Telecommunication Students Spend Spring Break Covering MLB Spring Training in Florida
Eric Esterline, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications associate director of Sports Journalism and Communications, embarked on a one-week excursion with 11 Telecommunication students to cover Major League Baseball Spring Training.
The class trip, held Mar. 5-9, included stops in Tampa, Ft. Myers and Orlando.“While it sacrificed spring break for the students, they all agreed it was well worth it,” said Esterline. “Seeing the smiles on their faces, reading their reflections and looking at the pictures they shared really brings home the importance of getting these students out of the classroom.”
The students covered the games and posted on Twitter at #GrapefruitGators. They also shared their experiences on the CJC MLB Spring Training Experience website and received one hour of college course credit.
