Andrew Selepak Comments on Marketable Skills for Job Seekers
Andrew Selepak, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications director of the online Master’s program in social media, was quoted in “Marketable Skills Every Job Seeker Should Have,” published in The Washington Post on March 20.
The article encourages job seekers to define their marketable skills to get noticed amidst a sea of applicants. Selepak suggests that, in the digital age, building your personal brand and establishing an online presence can be beneficial.
“No one skill or one buzzword will land you a job, but a defined brand shared through your network could get your resume from the middle of the pile to the top and land the dream job you want,” said Selepak.
He also recommends showcasing skills and abilities online via social media accounts or personal websites, building a professional network by leveraging connections and earning credentialed certificates that can be touted online.
