WUFT-FM, located in the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Innovation News Center, received first place for Best Writing Division C in the Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI) 2017 awards competition ceremony on June 23.
CJC student journalist and Telecommunication senior Luke Sullivan’s “When the Lights Go Out, and Stay Out” received the honor. The story focused on a family struggling to get their utilities restored before the Christmas holiday.
The PRNDI awards are the only national contest recognizing outstanding reporting, editing, anchoring and news production at local public media stations.
