CJC Doctoral Student Receives Fulbright Foreign Scholarship
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications doctoral student Yewande O. Addie is the recipient of a grant from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board for research in Nigeria.
Addie’s research specializes in West African public health messaging, cultural communication, health disparities, global media systems and the representation of Africa and the African Diaspora in global news and entertainment media.
The Fulbright Program is devoted to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Fulbright is the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange program.
Fulbright recipients include 59 Nobel Laureates, 82 Pulitzer Prize winners, 72 MacArthur Fellows, 16 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipients, and thousands of leaders across the private, public and non-profit sectors. Since its inception in 1946, more than 390,000 “Fulbrighters” have participated in the program.
