CJC Student Inducted into the UF Honors Program Hall of Fame
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism senior Meryl Kornfield is one of only five UF Honors Program students that will be inducted into the second annual Honors Hall of Fame class.
The UF Honors Program is a community of scholars, bound together by a shared interest in maximizing the undergraduate experience. The Hall of Fame recognizes students that exhibit exemplary traits including intellectual diversity, creativity, curiosity, leadership, professional demeanor, critical thinking, lifelong learning, service, integrity, intellectual confidence and disciplinary depth.
During Kornfield’s tenure at CJC, she rose from contributing writer to editor-in-chief of The Independent Florida Alligator. She was also editor of the Honors Program’s magazine, PRISM. She has had bylines in various publications including the Associated Press, The Miami Herald, the South Florida Sun Sentinel, The Palm Beach Post and the Gainesville Sun. This summer, she will be an investigative reporting intern in Washington, D.C., assisting major newsrooms including The Washington Post and NPR with their large investigative projects.
