CJC Students Win National SPJ Mark of Excellence Awards
Three University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications students received top honors in the National 2018 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Mark of Excellence Awards competition. The awards recognize the best in student journalism.
National SPJ Mark of Excellence winners include:
Best Use of Multimedia: Mackenzie Behm, Journalism senior, “After Michael’s Fury, An Angel Save the Forgotten in a Florida Tent City”
Online/Digital Feature Videography: Mackenzie Behm, Journalism senior, “Florida Voices | Brad Kendell, Sailing Forward”
Radio Sports Reporting: Meredith Sheldon, B.S. Journalism 2019, “Overcoming Adversity Through Archery”
Radio Features: Alexa Lorenzo, B.S. Telecommunication 2018,“A Problem with Pythons”
The students received first place in their categories in the 2018 SPJ Region 3 regional competition and automatically advanced to the national contest. The winners will be recognized at the Excellence in Journalism 2019 conference in San Antonio on Sept. 6.
