Raegan Burden Joins CJC as Lecturer of Cultural Engagement
Raegan Burden will join the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Advertising Department this fall as Lecturer of Cultural Engagement.
In this new position, Burden will specialize in monitoring trends and opportunities for advertising’s role in shaping the cultural, social, political, and ethical trust between institutions and audiences. She will be teaching Advertising Strategy, International and Cross-cultural Advertising, and Media Ethics.
Burden currently is Instructor of Communications at Johnston Community College (Smithfield, N.C.) Transfer Program. Prior to that, she was Instructor of Communication at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte. Her teaching and research areas of interest are focused on the intersections of culture, diversity, ethics, and health.
Before entering academia, she acquired 15 years of experience in advertising, marketing and communication, most recently as a freelance branded content editor. She has worked for J. Walter Thompson, Turner Broadcasting, UTOKA, Millward Brown and other firms in a range of agency roles, including content developer, producer, account manager, and researcher. She has worked on campaigns for multiple brands across various industries, including The Coca-Cola Company, UPS, Chick-fil-A, BlueCross BlueShield, Jiffy Lube, United States Marine Corps, Acorn TV, Prudential Financial, Teavana, and the United States Virgin Islands Board of Tourism.
Burden received her B.A. in Communications, with a minor in Business, from North Carolina A&T State University and her Master of Mass Communication from the University of Georgia.
