Rita Men Authors Article on What Leaders Should Focus on During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Rita Men, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Public Relations associate professor, is the author of “Learning in Wartime: Five Ways CEOs Should Communicate With Their Workers During Coronavirus” published in The Conversation on April 16.

Men focuses on the important leadership role America’s CEOs play in helping their workers stay healthy and motivated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She lists five key themes for leaders to focus on when communicating with employees: be transparent, convey authenticity, show empathy, put people first and demonstrate optimism.
According to Men, “During extraordinary times live the COVID-19 pandemic, leaders need effective communication skills like these to instill trust, confidence and hope in their workers – essential ingredient to winning the war.”
