CJC Adverting Professor Jon Morris to Retire in December 2020
Jon Morris, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Advertising professor, will retire in December after a distinguished 36-year career at the College.
During his tenure, Morris taught a wide variety of courses including Advertising Ethics and Problems, Advertising Campaigns and Creative Strategy and Research. He published six book chapters and 70 refereed articles and papers.
He was named a UF Research Foundation Professor from 2016-19. His research has appeared in the top advertising and marketing journals including: Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, Journal of Advertising, and Psychology and Marketing, and in the proceedings of the American Academy of Advertising and the Association for Consumer Research, among others.
Morris also has been a pioneer in the study of emotional responses in marketing communication. He was instrumental in developing the AdSAM model of studying emotional response, which has been used around the globe in a range of industries, including apparel, automotive, cosmetics, consumer packaged goods, entertainment, healthcare and media. The AdSAM model was recently used in several political sentiment polls published by the College.
