CJC Journalism Senior Qualifies for Hearst National Multimedia Championship
Victor Prieto, a University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism senior, received second place in the 2021 Hearst Journalism Awards Multimedia III: Digital News/Enterprise Story individual competition and qualified to participate in the National Hearst Multimedia Championship in June. Prieto will also receive a $2,000 cash prize.
The winning multimedia story, “Run, Regas, Run,” features Ocala’s Regas Woods’ journey to the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics. Entries in this category featured individual reporting based on a single news event or enterprise or explanatory journalism around a newsworthy event or issue.
The 61st annual program, offering up to $700,000 in awards, consists of five monthly writing competitions, two photojournalism competitions, one audio competition, two television competitions, and four multimedia competitions – with championship finals in all divisions. The competition includes 104 universities of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication with accredited undergraduate journalism programs who are eligible to participate in the Hearst competitions.
