Mira Lowe Named 2021-2022 SEC Academic Leadership Development Fellow
Mira Lowe, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) assistant dean for student experiences and Innovation News Center director, was selected as a 2021-2022 Fellow for the Southeastern Conference Academic Consortium’s Academic Leadership Development Program (SECU/ALDP).
SECU/ALDP identifies, prepares and advances academic leaders for roles within SEC institutions and beyond. It has three components, a university-level development program designed by each institution for its own participants, as well as two SEC-wide workshops that will be held this year at the University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina. Lowe will be working with the University of Florida’s Provost Office throughout the fellowship year.
In addition, Lowe will be part of the 2021-2022 UF Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals (ALAP) program. Designed in cooperation with UF’s Office of the Provost, Faculty Senate, and Human Resource Services, the leadership program is for UF academic and professional leaders who wish to further explore and develop their leadership skills.
Journalism Department Chair Ted Spiker was an SECU/ALDP Fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year. Lowe, Spiker and Public Relations Department Chair Marcia DiStaso were part of the UF ALAP 2019-2020 program.
