WUFT-FM Student Journalists Receive First Place 2021 PMJA Awards
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications student journalists are the recipients of two first place 2021 Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA) Awards. The awards recognize the best work in public media journalism from across the U.S.
“Four Days, Five Murders” received top honors in Division C Multi-Media Presentation category and in the Long Documentary category. WUFT-FM student staff reported on the 30th anniversary of five grisly student murders framing it through the lens of the victims and the long term impacts the murders had on a college town like Gainesville.
The 2021 PMJA awards recognized work completed in 2020. This year, 203 awards were presented to 88 organizations. Stations compete against others with similar-sized newsrooms.
The awards were presented virtually on June 24.
