Moon Lee Named Public Relations Department Chair at Syracuse University
Moon Lee, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Public Relations associate professor, has been named the new Public Relations Department chair at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications. In her new role, beginning fall 2021, she will lead a team of 10 faculty members and more than 400 Public Relations majors.
Lee came to CJC in 2009 from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University where she served as an associate professor. Her research has focused primarily on media processes and effects, health communication, public relations and empowerment, and communication technology development/evaluation.
Over the past two decades of her academic career, she has produced more than 40 publications, 13 grants and 56 refereed conference papers. She has served on dissertation committees for nearly 60 students during that time.
She currently serves as President of the Korean American Communication Association and has received several awards such as the Page Legacy Scholar award and UF Term Professorship.
Lee earned both her master’s and Ph.D. degrees from UFCJC, and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Kon-Kuk University in South Korea.
