CJC Alumna Authors First Young Adult Survival Thriller Novel
Laini Kotchers, B.S. Public Relations 2001, is the author of the young adult survival thriller SKI WEEKEND: A Novel. SparkPress will publish her debut book under her pen name “Rektok Ross” on Oct. 26.
The book follows six teens stranded in the mountains who are forced to make impossible choices about who will live and who will die. Kotchers’ goal was to create a world with a diverse cast that teens can identify with, throw them together against their will in a thrilling survival scenario, and see if they could find a way to common ground if they really tried. The novel explores existential questions of life and death, hope and faith, and what it all means.
SKI WEEKEND was named a “Best Book of Fall” by Cosmopolitan, Yahoo!Life, BookTrib, SheReads and SheKnows. It also is the 2021 Firebird Award Winner in Young Adult Fiction.
