CJC Students Honored in 2022 BEA Student Festival of Media Arts Competition
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) students have received awards in the 2022 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Student Festival of Media Arts competition including two “Best of Festival” accolades for “Run, Regas, Run” by Victor Prieto, B.S. Journalism 2021, and “Rising from the Rubble” by WUFT News Staff.
The honorees include:
Student Documentary Competition:
- Best of Festival for “Run, Regas, Run” by Victor Prieto
- Micro-Documentary: First Place for “Run, Regas, Run” by Victor Prieto
Student Film & Video Competition:
- Narrative: Third Place (tie): “What Else is On?” by Telecommunication senior Diego Orozco, Haley Mueller, B.S. Telecommunication 2021, Telecommunication juniors Garrett Robles and Justin Yoon
- Award of Excellence: “The Ultimate High” by Telecommunication seniors Michel Thomas, Chris Ruiz, Brady Bunker and Carina Nunno and Gabby Willis, B.S. Telecommunication 2021
Student News Competition:
- Best of Festival (Newscast or News Magazine) “Rising from the Rubble” by WUFT News Staff
- TV Long Feature: Second Place: “Black Thursday” by Pamela Comme, B.S. Telecommunication 2021
- TV News Magazine First Place (Best of Festival) “Rising from the Rubble” by WUFT News Staff
- TV News Magazine: Third Place: “Overcoming Impossible” by WUFT-TV News
Sports Student Competition:
- Third Place: Journalism senior Madi Camporese Anchor Reel
The Student Festival winners will be celebrated in person at the BEA2022 Conference on April 24-25 in Las Vegas.
