SMI Resident Assistants and Teaching Assistants Needed
The University of Florida Summer Media Institute is a five-night, six-day workshop (June 19-24, 2022) in which high school students are immersed in journalism and communications. The SMI program is hiring multiple student assistant positions to work with campers. Housing and dining will be included in addition to the stipend provided.
Compensation: $600 minimum, housing and meals for the duration of the program
Responsibilities:
- Serve as first point of contact and leader for youth campers
- Organize and run evening activities (i.e. scavenger hunt, trivia night, etc.)
- Report to SMI program assistant, coordinator, and director as needed
- Provide on-call night supervision during overnight hours within dorm building
- Assist SMI faculty with specializations as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Complete mandated, paid training in advance
Minimum Requirements:
- This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average.
- Be available June 19-24, 2022
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred federal work study
- Preferred CJC student or with comparable experience in programs such as Adobe, teleprompter reading, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service
- Previous work with youth a plus
- Demonstrate professional etiquette at all times
