WUFT Receives Four 2022 RTDNA Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards
Public media stations WUFT-FM and WUFT-TV, operated by the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, are the winners of four Region 13 2022 Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. WUFT-FM and WUFT-TV each received two Small Market Category regional awards.
Radio awards include:
Digital: “Reporting on the Equity Beat” by Katie Hyson, M.A.M.C. 2020, for Report for America
News Series: “Rural Broadband in Florida” by Sky Lebron, B.S. Journalism 2019
Television awards include:
Feature Reporting: “Never Say Never” by Chris O’Brien, B.S. Telecommunication 2021
Sports Reporting: “Run, Regas, Run” by Victor Prieto, B.S. Journalism 2021
The RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards are among the most prestigious in broadcast and digital news. Region 13 is comprised of media outlets from Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Regional winners automatically move on to the national round of consideration, which includes digital news organization and network competitors.
RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism. National winners, including digital news organization and student awards, will be announced in summer 2022. National winners will be honored at the 2022 Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala on Oct. 10 in New York City.
