UFCJC Alumna and Staff Honored in NABJ 2022 Salute to Excellence Awards Competition
Pamela Comme, B.S. Telecommunication 2021, is the recipient of a National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) 2022 Salute to Excellence Award for “Black Thursday 50th Anniversary” in the Television – Undergraduate category, and WUFT Senior TV News Manager Kalisha Whitman’s “The Lede” Season III Episode IV: Black History Month – African Americans’ Legacy received an award nomination in the Digital Media – Undergraduate: Online Feature Reporting category.
NABJ recognizes journalism that best covers the Black experience or addresses issues affecting the worldwide Black community. The Salute to Excellence Awards competition is open to all media organizations and individuals involved in print, broadcast, and all forms of digital journalism, as well as communications and collegiate media. Entries are judged on content, creativity, innovation, use of the medium and relevance to the Black community.
The awards were presented at an awards gala at the NABJ/NAHJ (National Association of Hispanic Journalists) Convention and Career Fair in Las Vegas on Aug. 6.
