Andrew Selepak Comments on Elon Musk’s Concerns About Apple App Store Policies
Andrew Selepak, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Media Production, Management, and Technology lecturer and coordinator of the online master’s program with a specialization in social media, is quoted in “Twitter Owner Elon Musk Fumes About Apple App Store Policies” posted on cbsaustin.com on Nov. 29.
The article focuses on tech companies’ claims that Apple and Google have anti-competitive practices. According to Selepak, not much will come of the dust up involving Twitter and Apple.
“Apple’s not going to be pulling Twitter anytime soon,” Selepak said. “It’s too useful for a company like Apple to engage with customers, to be able to do customer service, to be able to put out announcements. Maybe this is some sort of odd negotiating tactic of Musk or just online bluster.”
He adds, “App platforms and the big app developers need each other too much to cut ties. And Twitter, Meta and other companies aren’t likely in a position to get what they want from Apple and Google. They have to get along to go along.”
