Nicole Borman, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism freshman, was named the 2022-2023 Student Television Network (STN) Student of the Year. Borman won for her work as a senior at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida.

The Student of the Year award recognizes high school students who have exhibited a dedication to broadcast journalism, film or media and a high level of achievement in journalistic, creative, or video production efforts.

Borman received a $1,000 scholarship and will attend the 2023 STN Conference in Long Beach, California to address attendees and to work as an intern.

STN was started in 1999 by a group of teachers to support and encourage scholastic broadcasting and to provide a forum for teachers to share ideas, ask questions, and learn from professionals in the industry. Over the past 20 years, STN has expanded to include film, multimedia and other forms of communication taught in grades 6-12 throughout middle and high schools around the world.
