Janice Krieger Named to the ICA Fellows Class of 2023
Janice Krieger, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Advertising professor, has been selected for the International Communication Association Fellows Class of 2023, one of the most prestigious honors in communication research.
Krieger is one of 30 notable scholars included into the 2023 ICA Fellows Class. Fellow status is primarily a recognition of distinguished documented scholarly contributions to the broad field of communication. Secondary consideration is given to those that provide significant social or professional service to other publics such as business, government or education.
Candidates are nominated by ICA members and approved by the ICA Board of Directors. Those selected retain their fellow status throughout their academic career.
Krieger, former director of the UFCJC STEM Translational Communication Center, is a health communication scientist focused on identifying innovative ways to empower patients and their families in healthcare decision-making as well as reduce barriers that contribute to inequities in cancer prevention and survivorship.
She has more than 20 years of experience developing and implementing mHealth interventions that use precision messaging techniques to reduce health inequities. She has secured over $10 million in research funding, including serving as the principal investigator of a large, randomized clinical trial to reduce colorectal cancer screening inequities.
