Janet Coats Will Present at Computer History Museum’s Tech and the Future of News Workshop
Janet Coats, managing director of UF’s Consortium on Trust in Media and Technology, will be a participant in the Tech and the Future of News Workshop at the Computer History Museum (CHM) in Mountain View, California, on June 20. Her discussion will focus on technology and disinformation/misinformation.
CHM, a leading museum dedicated to decoding technology to shape a better future for humanity, has been engaged in a yearlong initiative focused on questions about how technology has affected news and how it might be used to improve factors such as accessibility, relevance, reliability, quality and reach of news. Coats participated in a roundtable convened by CHM last spring to begin conversations around these issues.
The June 20 event is the initiative’s culmination and will include both workshops and a public event. Each presenter will write an article to be included in the project’s final report.
