Calling all CJC students!
We have some amazing opportunities in the weeks ahead for you to engage with some of the most captivating practitioners of science, tech, environment and climate reporting in the nation. Please check them out, and fill out THIS FORM to give me your RSVPs for the different events:
- Student lunch with Washington Post AI/Tech reporter and UF alumnus Drew Harwell Mon Oct. 2nd, 11:30 to 12:30, to discuss stories and career opportunities and anything else on your mind.
- DECODING AI, a university-wide public talk by Drew Harwell Weds Oct 4th at 4 p.m. on his experiences reporting on the development and rollout of AI, industry trends and what it’s like interviewing the players—and the bots.
- Lunch with fellow students interested in environmental storytelling and a sneak-peak screening of the new PBS documentary by Ken Burns, THE AMERICAN BUFFALO. Mon. Oct. 9th 11:30 to 12:30.
- Talk by photojournalist Lauren Petracca on her award-winning climate change project THE GREENLAND CONNECTION on Thurs. Oct. 19th from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Reitz Union Room G 330. (Zoom option available.)
- Student meet and greet with Rolling Stone climate change reporter Jeff Goodell in a small group on Weds Nov. 1st at 1 p.m.
- THE HEAT WILL KILL YOU FIRST, public talk by Jeff Goodell about his new book by that name, followed by a book sale, signing and reception, Weds. Nov. 1st at 3 p.m., Reitz Union auditorium.
