Three UFCJC Students Win First, Second and Third in UFIC’s Annual Global Culture Photo Contest
Three University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) students who participated in the College’s 2023 Berlin Study Abroad program, swept the study abroad and service learning students category in the University of Florida International Center’s (UFIC) annual Global Culture Photo Contest.
Public Relations senior Jordyn Chiodo placed first for “Eisenbahner in Berlin.” Journalism sophomore Gabriel Velasquez Neira received second place for “Relaxing in the Park” and Media Production, Management, and Technology junior Ethan Goddard placed third for “Abracadabra.”
An exhibit featuring the winning photographs will be held at UF Grinter Gallery from Nov. 17, 2023 to Jan. 12, 2024. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The Berlin Study Abroad program, led by Journalism Associate Professor John Freeman, provided a two-week photojournalism tour of the city. The course focused on profiling newsworthy Berliners who have called the city home since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
