Student Art Writing Competition at the Harn Museum – “Words on Canvas”

Write yourself into the art museum!

Words on Canvas is an annual art writing competition at the Harn Museum of Art for University of Florida and Santa Fe College students.  We invite you to engage museumgoers with your poetry or prose inspired by art at the museum. This year, students can choose from 27 artworks covering each of the Harn’s collecting areas on view throughout the museum. We also have a special theme focused on walking (embracing all forms of inclusive personal mobility and imaginative approaches), so we are calling the 2024 competition Walks on Canvas!

Writers of winning entries will be awarded fun prizes and will have the opportunity to read their entry in front of their artwork at the Harn’s Museum. Their essay/poem will be printed in a brochure to be given to them and shared with audiences; and will be featured on the innovative Walking Station which dispenses stories at the push of a button.

Students may submit until midnight, February 25, 2024.
