UFCJC Alumna Jeongmin Ham to Join Advertising Department
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) today announced that Jeongmin Ham will join the College as Advertising assistant professor in fall 2024.
Ham, B.S. Advertising 2017, is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Texas – Austin.
Her dissertation focuses on how virtual humans, encompassing AI and human-driven entities, play pivotal roles
in diverse sectors, from education to advertising, showcasing realistic appearances and behaviors. The dissertation research explores integrating digital narrative elements, employing storytelling strategies to familiarize audiences with virtual influencers, addressing negative perceptions, and contributing valuable insights for virtual human-driven marketing and human-computer interaction.
Ham’s areas of research include new media and emerging technology, advertising, human-computer interaction, media psychology and media effects.
She is the author or co-author on seven peer-reviewed articles published or under revision or review. Her published articles have appeared in the Journal of Interactive Advertising and Telematics and Informatics and accepted for publication in the Journal of Advertising Research. In addition, she is the author or co-author on three published abstracts and proceedings and eight conference papers.
Ham will be teaching Principles of Advertising and Media Planning in the fall.
