Iman Zawahry to Present at SXSW 2024 Muslim House Session
Iman Zawahry, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Media Production, Management, and Technology lecturer and one of the first hijabi American-Muslim filmmakers, will be a presenter at the 2024 SXSW festival during the Muslim House™ Session “Avoiding Censorship: How to Increase Muslim Representation in News & Media” on March 9 in in Austin, Texas.
Session presenters include Zawahry, screenwriter and comedian Ahmed Ahmed, director Iram Parveen Bilal. ABC News National Correspondent Zobreen Shah will serve as moderator.
The Muslim House™ is a dedicated space elevating American Muslim voices at prestigious events such as the Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, and Tribeca. It serves as a platform for vital discussions that hold significance for American Muslim communities. The Muslim House at SXSW is sponsored by the MPAC Hollywood Bureau and the Islamic Scholarship Fund, for which Zawahry is film programs director.
The annual SXSW features sessions, music and comedy showcases, film and television screenings, world-class exhibitions, professional development and networking opportunities, tech competitions, awards ceremonies, and much more.
