UFCJC Faculty and Alumni to Discuss Florida’s Environment at Matheson Museum Event.
A University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) faculty member and alumna will be featured in “Once Upon a Time in Florida: Roots and Rivers” on May 1 at the Matheson History Museum in Gainesville, Florida.
The panel discussion on Florida’s environment will include Cynthia Barnett, UFCJC senior lecturer and Climate and Environment Reporting Initiatives director, Jacki Levine, M.A.M.C. 1983, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jack E. Davis.
Sponsored by Florida Humanities, this will be the final stop in the Florida Humanities’ statewide book tour for “Once Upon a Time in Florida.” The book, edited by Levine, marks Florida Humanities’ 50th anniversary with a collection of 50 timeless stories from the archives of FORUM, the award-winning magazine of Florida Humanities.
On April 24, Ann Weimer Moxley, author of “Just Call Me Rae: The Story of Rae O. Weimer” spoke about her father Rae Weimer at the museum. Rae Weimer is the founder of UF’s first school of journalism and dean emeritus. Her new book is a chronicle of her late father’s lasting legacy to journalism in the state of Florida.
