Little Shop of History: The Old Golf Shop in Pinehurst, N.C.
By Ashleigh Lucas, Sports@CJC
PINEHURST, N.C. — Robert Hansen, 77, started playing golf when he was 6 years old. Originally from New Jersey, Hansen was drawn to Pinehurst, N.C., because of its embedded golf culture and the resemblance to the town in which he grew up.
After spending 54 years collecting rare golf memorabilia, Hansen — along with his wife, Carol — opened a small shop in downtown Pinehurst to represent the rich history of golf and sell collectibles dating to the 18th century.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Old Golf Shop, Hansen hopes to continue spreading his joy of golf with those who share a similar passion.
