University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) 2024 Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT) alumni Luis Lageyre, Alayna Carley and Jake Fretwell, MPMT senior Stevencia Estime and UFCJC alumnus and MPMT Adjunct Lecturer Carlina Williams, B.S. The UFCJC cohort will assist the AVIJOZI marketing team with festival promotion, review film submissions for possible screening and conduct a workshop. The team will also assist Williams with her presentation on “The big idea: Unlocking your story from a creative executive.” Williams, a creative development executive, has been a speaker at the festival since its inception in 2021.

Her presentation will be followed by the alumni-student led workshop “Unlocking Your Next Story IDEA.” It will focus on generating story ideas and how to turn them into concepts by following the IDEA acronym: Imagine, Develop, Enhance and Act.

AVIJOZI, founded by animation and visual effects studio Chocolate Tribe based in Johannesburg, is a free animation, visual effects, film production and gaming industry festival that connects creatives, technicians, software developers, artificial intelligence (AI) researchers, artists, writers, directors, producers, students and industry enthusiasts from Africa and beyond.
