Kim Fowler Named 2024-2025 MPMT Visiting Lecturer
Kim Fowler, has been named a University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) visiting lecturer in the Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT) Department for 2024-2025. She will join the department on August 15.
Since 2022, Fowler has been academic adviser and program assistant with our Professional Master’s program and an adjunct professor, where she advises students on identifying and developing thesis project ideas, mentors students on project deliverables based on career goals and thesis project ideas, provides support for students with challenges in professional communication situations, and connects students to committee chairs and members based on thesis project, idea and faculty area of expertise.
She also has been an adjunct professor for Stories of Resiliency, a course she helped develop for spring 2023 in conjunction with the UF College of Design, Construction, and Planning’s GulfSouth Studio, an interdisciplinary design studio program sponsored by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine Gulf Research Program. Fowler helped create learning objectives and lectures with a focus on using the power of storytelling for change.
Fowler was a graduate Teaching Assistant in the MPMT Department for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years. She taught a weekly writing lab for Writing for Electronic Media and was a teaching assistant for Social Media and Society. She taught students skills and best practices for writing for media, including television, radio, PSAs, advertising, film, social media, and personal branding.
Prior to joining UF, she was a production manager with Ogilvy/Hogarth in New York and owned KF Productions, a production and marketing services company. She has produced/directed and edited more than 15 films and videos.
Fowler received her B.A. in Telecommunication from UFCJC in 2021 and is a 2022 graduate of the Professional Master’s program and was named Outstanding Graduate Student, Professional Studies in 2022.
