UFCJC Students Serve as NBC Network Interns During 2024 Paris Paralympics Games
Eight University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) students from the 15-member UFCJC Fall 2024 Semester Abroad program are working as paid interns for NBC Sports during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games from Aug. 19 to Sept. 8.
Under the direction of Media Production, Management, and Technology Associate Professor and Department Chair Roxane Coche, the interns, part of NBC’s first-ever group of onsite interns for the Paralympic games, hold positions in social media marketing to support 22 sporting events, including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, para-swimming and more.
“Watching the Olympic Games has been a four-year ritual for me. So to be an integral part of the Paralympics in a more impactful and meaningful way and work alongside the talented professionals of NBC Sports and UFCJC goes above and beyond any expectation I’ve ever had,” UFCJC graduate student Caitlyn Schiffer said. “Traveling and learning are two of my favorite things, but to combine these factors is a dream come true.”
After studying the culture and sports history Paris, the students will spend one month in Sevilla, Spain, to take two courses at Estudios Universitarios y Superiores De Andalucía followed by a four-day excursion to Madrid. The semester concludes on Nov. 23 after a six-week internship in Dublin, Ireland, coordinated by Learn International.
