UFCJC Student Journalist Featured in Journalism Salute Podcast
Vivienne Serret, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Journalism senior, is featured in “Vivienne Serret, The Alligator & Fresh Take Florida,” a Journalism Salute podcast posted on Sept. 3.
Serret is interviewed by host Mark Simon about her coverage of the resignation of former UF President Ben Sasse and other notable stories for The Independent Florida Alligator, an independent news organization featuring University news, and Fresh Take Florida, a UFCJC wire service covering Florida state government.
Serret talked about what went into her reporting on Sasse, discussed other stories she’s covered, explained essays she’s written about the pressure of being a first-generation Latina and also the difficulty of covering the trauma of others while dealing with her own trauma.
She also discussed the fearlessness required to be an investigative reporter, how she views her place in journalism and how being a journalist has shaped her worldview.
The Journalism Salute is a journalism appreciation podcast featuring interviews with journalists about who they are and what they do.
