Applications for Spring Atlas Lab Positions Now Open

The Atlas Lab is accepting applications for a limited number of Spring Semester 2025 interns through November 15, 2024. Zoom interviews for selected qualified applicants will begin on November 18, and finalists will be notified the week of December 9.
The Atlas Lab is a state-of-the-art facility for students, faculty and staff to develop an expertise in analyzing digital media dynamics, behavior and conversations. Atlas Lab Student Team Members support research activity, create social media content, and facilitate public engagement through social media analysis. Students directly benefit from this experience as it provides them with a portfolio of professional and/or academic writing, training in social media listening tools and techniques, and networking opportunities created by interactions with university faculty, staff, and external partners.
Internships are unpaid, and can be taken for 1, 2, or 3 credits, depending on students’ needs. Questions can be directed to Nathan Carpenter, Atlas Lab Director, at nathancarpenter@ufl.edu
Available Positions
Social Media Trend Reporters (4 positions)
- write articles about current topics and trends informed by social media data
- attend watch parties and events to explain social media analytics to general audiences
Atlas Lab Media Manager (1 position)
- create content and help manage Atlas Lab social media channels
- work with videographers to develop ideas for research highlight reels
- promote Atlas Lab events
- serve as liaison to CJC media properties (ESPN, WUFT, WRUF, Noticias, GHQ, etc.)
Lab Videographer (1 position)
- create video/audio content explaining social media-related topics
- produce and edit Atlas Lab research highlight reels
Social Media Researchers (4 positions)
- assist faculty and students with data acquisition and analysis
- conduct social media research for client projects
- write and test computer code for data acquisition and analysis
- lead or support training sessions and workshops
- create instructional materials and documentation for classes and workshops
Lab Designer / Copywriter (1 position)
- design report templates
- create graphics and charts
- create and edit instructional materials and documentation
Atlas Lab Team Leads (2 positions)
- provide leadership for teams of reporters or researchers
- organize team meetings, record meeting notes, and provide project management
- serve as liaison between Atlas Lab director and team members
- assist Atlas Lab director in organizing events, trainings, and workshops
- assist in final preparation of client deliverables
