John Freeman Wins First Place in UF International Center Global Culture Photo Contest
John Freeman, retired University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism associate professor, has received first place in the 20th Annual UF International Center Global Culture Photo Contest in Category 3 – Faculty, Staff and Alumni. The winning photo, “Happy Musician,” was taken in Rome, Italy.
This year, six judges reviewed over 115 photo entries. To ensure the selection process remained entirely impartial, the photos were presented to them without the photographers’ names. The judges evaluated each submission based on technical merit, composition, and how well the photo conveyed a “Global Culture” message.
The winners will be recognized at the International Education Week Reception & Awards Ceremony on Nov. 18 at the Keene Faculty Center on the UF campus.
An exhibit featuring this year’s winning photographs will be held at UF Grinter Gallery (located in the Grinter Hall lobby) from Nov. 15, 2024 to Jan.31, 2025. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
