UFCJC Journalism Senior Honored in the 2024-25 Hearst Journalism Awards Photojournalism News and Features Competition
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Journalism senior Ashleigh Lucas received ninth place in the 2024-25 Hearst Journalism Awards Photojournalism News and Features Competition. The winners were selected from 124 entries from 72 schools submitted in the first photo competition of the academic year.
Currently, UFCJC is in eighth place in the Intercollegiate Photojournalism Competition based on the highest accumulated student points in the first of two photo competitions.
The Journalism Awards Program, now in its 65th year, also includes five writing, one audio, two television, and four multimedia competitions. The program offers up to $700,000 in scholarships, matching grants and stipends. 105 member universities of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication with accredited undergraduate journalism programs are eligible to participate in the Hearst competitions.
