Jonelle Henry Joins National Media Task Force to Advocate Fair Media Coverage for Missing Persons
Jonelle Henry, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) CJCxDC Student Immersion Program director and UFCJC Telecommunication alumna, has been selected to participate in a new media task force created by a partnership between The Black and Missing Foundation (BAMFI) and the Washington Association of Black Journalists (WABJ). The nationwide initiative will advocate for fair media coverage of missing persons cases.
The 20-member task force, comprised of working journalists and media leaders representing local and national media organizations, will create comprehensive media guidelines for news outlets to integrate into their reporting approaches. They will also develop an impact matrix to measure the effectiveness of these efforts.
BAMFI is a nonprofit organization that raises awareness of missing people of color. WABJ is an organization for Black journalists, journalism professors, public relations professionals, and student journalists in the Washington, D.C., metro area.
