Two UFCJC Student Journalists Honored in 2024-25 Hearst Multimedia Digital News/Enterprise Competition
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism seniors Bailey Korinek and Nicole Borman received eighth and tenth place, respectively, in the 2024-25 Hearst Multimedia Digital News/Enterprise Competition. The third Multimedia competition of the year received 73 entries from 42 schools.
Korinek was honored for “’Amazing Thing:’ Freed Man Helps Others to Move Forward with Tattoos.” The story features tattoo artist Dean McKee, an exonerated prisoner, who helps people express themselves through tattoos to help them overcome their traumas.
Borman was recognized for “’There’s a Human Side to Homelessness:’ Florida’s Only Street Newspaper Spreads Awareness.” The feature focuses on the small newspaper, The Homeless Voice, designed to help those living on the streets by raising additional funds for sheltering and to educate the public about their plight. Both entries were published on wuft.org.
Currently, UFCJC is in fourth place in the 2024-25 Hearst Intercollegiate Multimedia Competition.
