CJC Graduate Student Taylor Wen Selected for AAA Dissertation Grant
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications graduate student Jing ‘Taylor” Wen will receive $2,200 from the 2016-2017 American Academy of Advertising (AAA) Doctoral Dissertation Competition for her proposal, “Facing Anger Versus Fear: How Individuals Regulate Level of Control in Risk Communication.”
Wen’s proposal includes a panel of 400 participants for a study on interactions between emotional priming and message-induced emotions on feelings of control, risk perceptions and behavioral intention. The first half of the award will be distributed at the AAA Conference in Boston in March and the second half will be disbursed when her dissertation is complete. Advertising Professor Jon Morris serves as her committee chair.
Wen is expected to graduate this summer and has accepted a position as an assistant professor in advertising at the University of South Carolina beginning fall 2017.
