  • Program background: PDS Guatemala invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural, educational, professional, and/or scientific ties between the United States and Guatemala through cultural, educational, and/or exchange programming that highlights our shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural or educational element, or connection with American expert(s), organization(s), or institution(s) in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
  • Program Objectives: Expanding independent media. The U.S. Government is committed to media freedom in Guatemala.  A free and independent press protects the rights of citizens and ensures our communities are well informed.  This includes promoting community-based reporting in regions and Mayan languages, expanding press opportunities for the next generation of journalists, exchanges between U.S. and Guatemalan news agencies, improving English language skills, counter disinformation, and building overall capacity.

  • Program background: VAU Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) invites proposals for that support democratic initiatives, higher education cooperation and an active citizenry in Venezuela, highlighting shared values, bilateral cooperation, and support for diversity, equality, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Program Objectives: Projects should be designed to achieve the following:
    • Strengthening independent media through capacity-building programs and other professional engagement;
    • Promoting democratic values and citizen participation through education and outreach, particularly for marginalized groups, including youth, women, LGBTQI+, persons with disabilities, indigenous, and Afro-Venezuelans
    • Building university partnerships and other higher-education exchanges that focus on curricula development, research capacity building, and tech transfer/intellectual property policies.

  • Program background: The Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program supports projects proposed by U.S., Malagasy, and/or Comorian educational, cultural, and other non-profit organizations or individuals that promote U.S. values, strengthen understanding between U.S. and Malagasy and/or Comorian people and institutions, and/or support U.S. Embassy goals of promoting human rights, transparency and good governance, economic and social prosperity, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development of natural resources. All programs must include a U.S. cultural element or a connection with U.S. experts, organizations, or institutions that will encourage increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
  • Program Objectives: Projects should be designed to achieve the following:
    • Promoting human rights, civic engagement, and democracy;
    • Advancing a free and responsible press and combatting disinformation including election disinformation;
    • Promoting U.S.-Madagascar/Comoros exchange in sports, music, and art.
